We have launched a new dedicated Resource Centre within our head office in Wolverhampton providing a valuable range of community-based day opportunities for young people with additional needs. The state-of-the-art facility will help individuals learn new skills, gain employment, access therapies, participate in activities and make new friends.
The inspirational new Resource Centre was officially opened by Mr John Crabtree OBE, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of The West Midlands, accompanied by our founder and CEO Bal Dhanoa, Managing Director Claire Rogers and the rest of the Progress Team.
Our aim is to support those families who need a break from day to day caring by offering their young people a safe space locally to socialise and meet new friends. We want to offer a place for young people to help develop their life and enhance their independence and live the most rewarding lives possible.
The multipurpose space boasts a fully equipped kitchen, sensory room, computer/quiet rooms and an open plan space to host group activities and we plan to develop a range of classes and groups that will help, not only our young people and young adults, but to individuals from the community who need a place to go, to socialise, develop skills and plan their futures.
Since the company was formed back in 2000, we have evolved from a small residential setting and independent fostering agency into one of the leading independent providers of specialist social care services in the Midlands.
We now employ over 220 people and are committed to preventing family breakdowns through increasing resilience and reducing dependency and by blending a range of community-based services designed to support semi-independent and independent living. This includes creating ‘home from home’ residential properties in Coventry, Derby, Walsall, Wednesbury, Rowley Regis and Wolverhampton.
In addition to the Resource Centre, the head office space offers staff a ‘state of the art’ unique office experience which has a large training space, so staff can get together from all services, to attend face to face training sessions, giving everyone the chance to learn about the wider organisation and the opportunities available.
Care and Specialist Services continually evolve and we want to ensure we have the facilities and the people in place to help the families we support in the Black Country and beyond.
We have a big focus on giving people the right to live independently, and our Resource Centre will further support this objective by improving life chances of disabled adults through hosting valuable life skills programmes, where they can get accreditation and learn practical skills to help them to lead fulfilling lives as independent adults in the community, helping them to live, love and thrive.
We aim to work in partnership with local businesses and projects with similar aims, to help young adults develop employment skills and trades, to allow adults with disabilities to make a meaningful contribution to society and to raise the profile and value of employing people with differences.
